First Things First: The Base Salary

So, you're probably thinking, "Okay, how much does Mikey Day make per episode?" Well, let's start with the base salary. As of 2021, Variety reported that SNL cast members make around $25,000 per episode. Now, that's not too shabby for a night's work, right?

But wait, there's more! Just like a late-night infomercial, we're just getting started.

Bonuses and Perks: The SNL Gold Mine

Here's where things get interesting. SNL cast members aren't just paid for the episodes they're in. No, no, no. They also get bonuses for hosting duties, writing segments, and even for those hilarious digital shorts that have us in stitches.

And get this, after six hosting gigs, the cast members get a nice little raise. We're talking around $125,000 per episode. Not bad for a gig that involves making us laugh until our sides hurt!

But it's not all about the money. Mikey Day, like many SNL cast members, has said that the real reward is making people laugh and being part of such an iconic show.

So, How Much Does Mikey Day Make?

Now, let's do some math. In the 2020-2021 season, Mikey Day was in 21 episodes. If we assume he got a bonus for hosting and writing, and let's say he hosted three times and wrote for five episodes, we're looking at:

• 21 episodes * $25,000 = $525,000
• 3 hosting gigs * $125,000 = $375,000
• 5 writing episodes * $15,000 (a rough estimate) = $75,000

Adding those up, we get a grand total of around $975,000 for the season. Not too shabby, huh?

But Remember, It's Not All About the Benjamins

Sure, Mikey Day is making a pretty penny on SNL, but it's important to remember that he, and the rest of the cast, work incredibly hard to bring us laughter every week. They spend hours writing, rehearsing, and perfecting their sketches.

And let's not forget the impact SNL has had on comedy and pop culture. It's a show that has launched the careers of some of the biggest names in comedy and continues to influence the world of entertainment today.
