Did Matt Prater Play For The Lions

So, you're wondering if Matt Prater ever suited up for the Detroit Lions, huh? Let's dive in, shall we?

First Things First

Matt Prater, the man, the myth, the kicker with the most accurate foot in the NFL, was indeed a Detroit Lion. But let's rewind, shall we?

Born in 1985, in a small town called Council, Idaho, Prater was a farm boy with a dream. He wasn't always a kicker, though. He started as a quarterback in high school, but his coach saw something special in his leg and switched him to kicker.

From Idaho to Detroit

Prater's journey to the Motor City wasn't straightforward. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2006, but it was a few years later, in 2011, that he found himself traded to the Lions.

Prater's first game as a Lion was against the Atlanta Falcons. He kicked a 56-yard field goal, setting a new franchise record. Talk about making an entrance!

Prater's Reign

Prater spent five seasons with the Lions, from 2011 to 2015. He broke records, made history, and became a fan favorite. In 2013, he set an NFL record for the longest field goal, kicking a 64-yarder against the Green Bay Packers. Yes, you read that right. Sixty-four. Yards.

But here's where it gets interesting. Prater didn't just kick long field goals; he kicked them with precision. He holds the NFL record for the highest field goal percentage in a single season (96.1% in 2013). That's like shooting hoops and making every single basket. Every. Single. One.

Life After Detroit

In 2015, Prater left the Lions and joined the Arizona Cardinals. But his time in Detroit left a lasting impact. He's still the Lions' all-time leading scorer, and his records are yet to be broken.
